Static Caravan's latest signing comes close to home (and close to my heart)
as the band are from the sunny lands of Birmingham. Or at least that's
where they're based, and where better to make skewed, extremely depressed
pop music? Taking cues from Arab Strap and more obviously Sigur Ros the
band move from lilting ballad into majestic, melancholy triumphantness with
an ease and grace that would be hard to manufacture. Maybe they're the
little lost souls they purport to be, or maybe they were brought up on too
much Radiohead with their Rice Krispies. I'm sure these guys are going to
be very big indeed anyway.
