Shady Bard’s unashamedly pretty songs shimmer with rare acoustic beauty. ‘Torch Song’ is precisely the kind of euphoric folk-pop that its title suggests – sweet, haunting, yet ultimately uplifting. The enchanting ‘Memory Tree’ is a wonderfully-shy, intimate little song that nu-folk hero James Yorkston would be proud to call his own.‘Bobby’ – well, what can I say? ‘Bobby’ is simply one of the most magical songs I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to. Autumnal weariness has never sounded quite so compelling. I’m rarely lost for words, but this song genuinely leaves me speechless. It really has to be heard to be believed. If ‘Bobby’ doesn’t melt your heart, then your heart’s probably made of gravel.
