Subject: Three Songs (demo)

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few months without access to the outside world…then you'll no doubt be oblivious to the fact that shady bard have cutely crept into our life and literally tipped it upside down.

Two releases to date (both via Static Caravan) - the near perfect Treeology EP was a thing of such weeping nostalgic beauty that we scarce dreaded the onset of anything new arriving into our life by the band for fear of disappointment given they'd raised the bar so high. The imminent Penguins (apparently already sold out on pre-order alone)…is magnificent, a work of such refined elegance, awash with richly vibrant moods that aches with a tender softness that these days seems sadly thin on the ground. In recent memory perhaps only the Earlies and Hush the Many have similarly set their stall in such indefinable, unreachable and contradictory (to all fashionable flavours of the now) realms.

Now available for public consumption for the first time via the bands website the much fabled and extremely rare three track demo (sadly not the even rarer demo that tripped out sometime last year in ultra limited quantities to various fanzines and labels and something of which we have to say has caused us continued nightmares not having yet to date placed our hands on a copy).

Already having sold out of its brown, pink and green runs of handmade sleeves…there are plans to make two more coloured represses available in time for their forthcoming tour which incidentally kicked off in Cardiff last Friday and which culminates at the Water Rats in London on the 17th November. This cutie features demo versions of (the ghostly winter swept) 'Treeology', 'Bobby' (which craftily nibbles away at Brotherhood of Mans 'Angelo' - I kid you not) and 'Torch Song' - the first two cuts having appeared in all their resplendent glory on the debut EP while the latter is to date an unreleased gem of some note that provides conclusive proof that the shady bard locker is choc-a-bloc full of nuggets waiting in the shadows to hang and dangle perilously upon your heart strings. Fans of Radiohead, Godspeed, iLiKETRAiNS and the Super Furries will not go unrewarded - great things await - demo of the missive.
