operation: icepark
Telling the story of an ice park and its polar inhabitants threatened by climatic change, Penguins was released in October 2006 on Static Caravan and has now sold out. The 7" single comes on ice clear vinyl with a cut-and-play animal insert free inside. The flipside features Dust, remixed from an early demo recording and the first song to use our Casiotone MT65.
The accompanying Operation Icepark tour was our biggest to date and Penguins has since been played by Steve Lamacq, Mark Riley and Phill Jupitus at BBC 6music.
To find out more about antarctic zoology, take a visit to the disused Penguin Pool at London Zoo. The pool, constructed in the 1930s by modernist architect Lubetkin, is currently not in use (the penguins have been moved to a new home), but it remains one of the landmarks of British modernism. You can find more information on the structure here.
